MOTORCARAVANNERS CLUB – SOUTHWEST PENINSULA GROUP

COMMITTEE MEETING – Tevarrian Holiday Park, Mawgan Porth.

1st March 2026

MINUTES

Present – Linda Chudley (Chairman), Nigel Bright (Treasurer), Barry Ware (Vice Chair), Marion and Pete Gray (Rally Officers), Trish Cornish, Robin, Empsall, Mike Chudley.  Apologies Sheila Revill (Secretary)

  1. Offer to share Christmas Party venue at Riverside with West Country Group.  Discussed prior to meeting with all committee members and most members of the attending rally.  Everyone was very grateful to be asked by West Country to join and as the dates are different several members will go to both but the majority favoured a smaller rally with our own group.

Actions – Chairman to thank West Country but decline their offer for this year.

Rally officers to ask Tencreek some questions re this year booking –

  1. Are they able to open bar or give us the room on first night Tues 8th to do a quiz or something similar?
  2. If it is possible to swop the day for the meal from Thurs to Weds – ie feedback from members re driving.  Ensure they decorate the room – SWP committee had to do this last year.
  3. If we cant have both shower blocks open please could they open both Elsans.
  4. If this was possible to move the meal to the weds and then we could have the grand draw on the Thursday.  Agreement again of £250 donation from club funds  for the raffle – Chairman to liaise with Sally and Ian Lewis re this. – Action completed Sally and Ian will do the raffle for one last year.
  5. Plan to consider alternatives for next year.
  • Update from Rally Officers.  Most rallies have a free pitch this year for hosts but those that don’t committee agreed the club would pay for the free host pitch.  Ensure new hosts are aware they can spend money on entertainment – requests over £100 to come to the  Committee/treasurer for authorisation. Rally officers are looking for some different venues for next year.  Barry Ware reminded Committee that vehicle registrations will be needed well in advance for the Bude rally  to avoid fines from the ANPR system. He will be requesting people to express their intention to attend well in advance even if they change their minds nearer the time and will require registrations for tow cars and scooters as well as motorhomes. Linda thanked the rally officers for all their hard work.
  • Coleman Shelters – we now have 4 shelters, two brand new and 2 older ones.  Pete and Mel Maddocks have one older one in Cornwall.  Mike Chudley has two new ones and 1 older one in Devon.  Mike also has a broken one which he hopes to use for parts to keep the others going.  Plan to put Mikes number on the host box for people to ring him if they require shelters for their rally and also to update if any problems with any of the shelters.   Mikes number is 07912878710.

Discussion re the article in the 2026 handbook re dogs and shelters.

The committee were of the opinion that Common Sense would prevail.

  • Treasurer update – Current Account £1306, Business Account £4535. Some sites this year will require BACS payments ie Bude, Anchor Barrow And Tencreek. Nigel is able to complete this wherever he is in the world providing he has the correct sort codes and account numbers.  Sheila can also do BACS payment.  Nigel is also updating the web page and would like some photos.  Nigel is also hoping to do a Buy/Sell section, together with site/tradespeople recommendations home and abroad.
  • Facebook update from Trish.  All going well. Mel Maddocks remains a facebook admin which she agreed to do short term to help when she stood down from the Committee.  Trish is happy that Mel is still doing this and has been grateful for her support.
  • AOB – Linda thanked all the Committee for their hard work.
  • Date of next Committee Meeting – TBA
